Sports medicine services
Novant Health Waxhaw Family and Sports Medicine employs Certified Athletic Trainers, who are licensed health care professionals in the state of North Carolina. Athletic trainers are beneficial in sports medicine physician offices because their education aligns with the most prominent patient population. Athletic trainers help enhance a physician’s communication with patients by serving as another source of expert information.
Athletic trainers collaborate with the sports medicine physician to enhance the activity and participation of patients by focusing on the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. Athletic training is not to be confused with personal training. For more information on athletic training, please visit NATA.org.
