Dr. Derrick Blackwell
Dr. Derrick Blackwell prides himself on being compassionate and hard working. He enjoys the personal family connections that he makes in medicine, and he has a special interest in pediatrics, sports medicine and chronic disease management, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. Dr. Blackwell also enjoys making disease prevention and patient education a big part of his practice. He feels blessed to serve this community with Novant Health Waxhaw Family & Sports Medicine.
Sherry DeMaison is a nurse practitioner who is ANCC- Certified in family practice, and sees patients starting at age one day old and up. Sherry has a strong interest in wellness through education. She counsels and educates many patients on how to manage and control Diabetes, high cholesterol and weight loss. Sherry also has an interest in women’s health. She has been a practitioner with the group for eleven and a half years.
Dr. Lilian Evans
Dr. Lilian Evans is a board certified family physician who enjoys the full spectrum of family medicine, ranging from pediatric to adult patient care. In addition, she is pleased to offer her patients a variety of cosmetic services and procedures, including Botox and Dermal fillers. Dr. Evans enjoys caring for each of her patients as a whole being- both physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Dr. Howard Guthmann
Dr. Howard Guthmann helped start the Waxhaw practice almost 20 years ago. He still loves taking care of the entire family, from newborns to the elderly. Over the years he has realized the limitations of even modern medicine and encourages his patients to work on the lifestyle changes that are so much safer and often more effective than pills or supplements. He and his wife of 37 years have lived in Waxhaw for 24 years and have raised 9 children. He loves his church and enjoys woodworking.
Dr. Robert Malecki
Dr. Roberr Malecki is a board-certified family medicine physician with more than seven years of experience in group practice at Advocate Medical Group. He received his medical degree from the Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland and completed his residency at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago.
While caring for patients in group practice, Dr. Malecki has remained very active on local hospital committees and has been a vocal patient advocate for quality, patient-centered care.
“I strive to provide the highest quality medical care in a comprehensive manner by attending to my patients’ physical as well as emotional well-being,” says Dr. Malecki. Dr. Malecki also invests in the local community by participating in events such as health fairs and and the Special Olympics MedFest. In his spare time, Dr. Malecki enjoys playing the guitar, participating in sports and running marathons. He looks forward to moving here with his family at the end of the summer.
Dr. Rosanna Silva
Dr. Rosanna Silva approaches each patient uniquely—using a whole person philosophy that takes into account the many factors that contribute to a patient’s overall wellness. She is proud to be “a doctor you can talk to”, and she enjoys seeing a diverse set of patients. In addition, Dr. Silva is a Novant Health Certified Language Assistant, who is happy to serve our community’s Spanish-speaking population.
Dr. Anthony Walker
Dr. Anthony Walker is passionate about rehabilitation and returning individuals to optimal health and wellness. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has a keen interest in health and wellness, sports related injuries, rehabilitation of status-post musculoskeletal surgeries, treatment of neuromuscular pathologies, worker’s compensation injuries, and geriatric rehabilitation.
Dr. Eric Warren
Dr. Eric Warren is board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine but has a practice dedicated solely to the treatment of non-operative orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions as well as sports-related concussions. He offers comprehensive on-site sports medicine care including musculoskeletal ultrasound, computerized concussion testing, digital x-ray, casting and splinting as well as physical therapy.
Dr. Warren is the medical director for Novant Health Sports Medicine program and is also the athletic medical director for the Union County Public School System, one of the state’s largest school systems. He has been the head physician for a number of professional and elite events including the Charlotte Ultraswim, Thunder Road Marathon, and the Modern Pentathlon World Cup (a qualifier for the 2012 London Olympic Games). Dr. Warren was also the head physician for the 2011, 2012, and 2014 World's Strongest Man Finals competitions shown internationally on ESPN, CBS, and the BBC. Dr. Warren has been named multiple times by his peers as a Charlotte Magazine Top Doctor in Sports Medicine, and he was also a recipient of the Excellence in Healthcare award from the Charlotte Business Journal.
Dr. Warren graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in chemistry and music from N. C. State University and then attended medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a Loyalty Fund Scholar and award winner. He completed his family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in conjunction with OrthoCarolina, and he was chief resident at Carolinas Medical Center during his career there, as well. He has been practicing with Novant Health in Waxhaw since 2007.
